旅游管理学院简介

【历史】北京第二外国语学院旅游管理学院源于1979年成立的旅游干部培训班;1981年成立旅游系,时设导游翻译和旅游经济专业;1992年学校设立饭店管理系和旅游外经系;1997年成立旅游经贸学院;1999年成立旅游管理学院。2013年经院系调整,合并原旅游发展研究院成立新的旅游管理学院。旅游管理学院以“服务,合作,创新”为院训,实践国际化和社会多元协同的人才培养模式。

【架构】旅游管理学院下设旅游管理系、旅游规划系和电子商务(旅游营销)系,拥有中国遗产旅游研究中心、中国闲暇经济研究中心、中国旅游经济研究中心、中澳旅游研究中心、中国旅游市场研究中心等多个非实体研究中心。现有教授5名、副教授8名、讲师8名,其中博士11名,在读博士2名。专业教学实力雄厚,有北京市优秀教师1人,北京市级教学名师1人,聘请40多位国内外旅游业资深人士作为客座教授。
【教学】目前旅游管理学院在读研究生、本科生、留学生共600余人,招收独立成班的外国留学生旅游研究生班。拥有巅峰智业奖学金、深圳机场国旅奖学金、大地风景企业奖学金、贾云峰旅游营销创新奖学金、武义勇卓策奖学金等多项企业奖学金。学院目前与澳大利亚昆士兰大学、格里菲斯大学,美国普渡大学、南佛罗里达大学、伊利诺伊大学、俄克拉荷马州立大学等大学之间有密切的学生国际交流与教师科研合作。
【学科】旅游管理专业现为国家级特色专业和北京市重点建设学科,并于2011年通过了世界旅游组织教育质量认证(TedQual)最高级别论证,2010年获得全国首批旅游管理专业硕士专业学位(MTA)招生资格。现有国家级精品课程1门,国家首批“十二五”规划教材3部,市级特色专业1个,市级重点学科1个,北京市级创新团队1个,市级教学团队1个,市级精品课程1门,市级精品教材3部。
【科研】学院科研工作居于全校领先水平,承担国家自然科学基金和国家社科基金等国家级科研课题8项,以及大量教育部、国家旅游局、铁道部、北京市哲学社会科学规划办公室等省部级科研课题和中国国旅集团等旅游业界委托研究课题。 学院于2004年创办的“中国旅游发展·北京对话”已经成为全国旅游学界、业界的品牌性学术论坛,2013年创立的“中国旅游发展·青年论坛”将致力于为青年旅游学者搭建一个全新的学术研讨平台。
【就业】旅游管理学院按照“专业+外语”的培养模式,坚持国际化与产学研结合的发展方向,在注重学生专业知识学习的同时,在社会实践中培养学生的服务、合作、创新精神和能力。凭着扎实的专业知识和良好的外语水平,旅游管理学院毕业生历年来受到旅游行政部门、外事单位、机关部委、进出口公司、教育科研机构、大型企业集团及民营企业等用人单位的青睐。

School of Tourism Management
Formally established in 1999, the School of Tourism Management (STM) at Beijing International Studies University (BISU) is widely known in China for its expertise in teaching and research in the field of Tourism Studies. STM’s academic leadership in the field can be traced back to the early 1980s, when China National Tourism Administration (CNTA) took charge of the university and supported the development of its tourism majors, making it the pioneer in tourism education in China. Throughout 30-year involvement in the field, the school has accumulated knowledge and experience in delivering tourism courses and producing graduates who are capable of meeting the challenges of working in tourism/leisure industries. Through teaching, research and outreach, STM endeavors to serve the society by creating knowledge, preparing students for critical thinking and addressing pertinent societal issues through the transfer and application of knowledge in tourism.  The academic units of STM include:

STM at BISU is well positioned to respond to the needs of tourism industry due to its advantages in well established tourism programs and courses, faculty strengths in research and teaching, and extensive relationships with the tourism industry. Industry support for teaching provides the school with laboratory supplies and materials, scholarships/fellowships, internships, recruiting events and field trips. STM hosts a 3D Tourism Planning & Landscape Laboratory, jointly funded by the local and the central government as well as the industry. The school works closely with business and industry to maximize employment opportunities for the students. The alumniof STM are nowoutstanding researchers and leaders in the tourism industry in China and worldwide. With an international orientation in education, the school is also actively involved in a range of overseas transfer and exchange programs. In recent years, STM has developed close relationships with outstanding tourism programs across the world, including those at the University of Queensland, Griffith University, Perdue University, University of South Florida, University of Illinois, and Oklahoma State University. 
 
Mission
Consistent with the University motto of “Service, Cooperation and Innovation”, the mission of STM is to prepare students for tourism-related careers in science and business. The school emphasizes theoretical and applied contributions to economic and managerial effectiveness of the tourism sector and to the environmental, social and cultural sustainability of tourism development. It is committed to excellence in teaching, research and outreach for domestic as well as international students. Faculty members possess a diverse array of expertise, including tourism economics, tourism planning, destination marketing, leisure studies, human geography and ecotourism.
 
Teaching
With around 600 students enrolled, STM has one of the largest undergraduate tourism programs in China. Building upon a tradition started over 30 years ago, the school features a four-year curriculum leading to a Bachelor of Science Degree in Tourism. The programs are offered by 21 highly qualified full-time faculty and staff. Practical industry experience through internship programs is recommended which aims to provide a smooth transition from university study to a career. STM courses are rated as ‘excellent’ by various local and national quality assurance agencies andwere awarded the UNWTO-TedQual accreditation for tourism provision in 2011. Graduate program is another priority of teaching. STM currently has over 70 domestic and international graduate students enrolled in MS research programs and projects. The school offers masters degrees in Tourism Management (MTA) and Business Administration (MBA). It also provides a master program and non-degree courses in tourism management for international students funded by Chinese Government Scholarship and other international scholarships.
 
Research
STM faculty members are extensively involved in research projects supported by nationally-competitive grants from government and private agencies. The emphasis on academic excellence has built STM' reputation as one of the nation's premier tourism schools. The school houses a variety of research centers and leads the research on areas of heritage conservation, tourism management, leisure economy, and Chinese tourism markets. Opportunities are offered for graduate students to develop independent projects and launch their career as researchers while working with faculty and assisting in research. STM initiated the Cross-Strait Tourism Seminar in 2008. With strong support from Beijing Tourism Administration, the school has been hosting the China Tourism Development, Beijing Dialog Forum annually since 2004 and Chinese Tourism Development, Young Scholars Forum in 2013. Continued efforts of the faculties and graduate students in advancing research in tourism studies propels STM academic programs to be ranked among the best in the country.  
 
Extension and outreach
STM has a long record of commitment to public engagement and enjoys long-standing professional relationships with the tourism industry at local, national and international level. STM faculty, staff and students collaborate with external audiences and partners to address the needs and opportunities of society. Through these partnerships, critical societal issues are embedded in the educational missions of the school which is further reflected in classroom instruction and research. The close relationship with industrial partners helps STM maintain the position at the leading edge of strategic thinking within the tourism industry.
